Do I need a new glass cutter or am I doing this wrong?

I bought a used glass cutter (pencil-style, no-name brand) from Ebay for $ 3. When I walk score of my glass painting, it is not really doing much and I can not get a line. I'm making new mosaics and wanted to make sure I do it properly – But it should not be scoring, not that I press really hard and go over the lines a bunch? You get what you pay for – is the $ 30 new Toyo cutter worth?

Oi, I had the same problem here in Brazil, when I saw this "low price" glass cutter (which is a hard metal weel), from China, Taiwan etc. is purchased. The wheel is hard, but not the holder. It Is very fast and plays the wheel, and leans on the glass (makes a 45 ° on glass). The result is that it is not a good groove.
